I am a GIS analyst and an archaeologist whose principal research interests is the study of the complex relationship between humans and the environment. I am specialized in Amazon late Pre-Columbian period, GIS spatial analysis and survey.Currently, I have been contributing as a geospatial data management and GIS analyst for the Tri-dimensional approach to First Nations’ land use and occupancy in Northwestern Ontario, winter 2014 to present project, directed by Dr. Frederico Oliveira from Lakehead University.
For my PhD program, I combined historical ecology and landscape archaeology approaches to contribute to the ongoing debate in Amazonian studies on the degree to which humans societies impacted and reshaped the landscape, in particular the Santarém group during the 10th to the 18th century, in the Santarém and Belterra Regions, Lower Amazon, Brazil. My doctoral research was funded by the Department of Anthropology of the University of Toronto, and Mitacs Globalink Research Award.
My other interests include participatory mapping, cultural forests, spatial analysis, historical research and ceramic and lithics analysis. I also have several years of experience conducting academic and private research in historical, archaeological, geographical subjects and archaeological survey and fieldwork.
